DARTMOUTH. SO, MISTER MAYOR, AS YOU MAY RECALL, AT THE LAST MEETING ON OCTOBER 21ST WAS A JOINT MEETING. CORRECTION SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2025 WAS A JOINT MEETING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL HAD WITH THE PLANNING COMMISSION. AT THAT MEETING, THE PLANNING COMMISSION DID NOT MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL REGARDING THE SPECIAL USE PERMIT. BY STATE CODE. THEY WOULD ORDINARILY HAVE 100 DAYS TO PROVIDE THEIR RECOMMENDATION.HOWEVER, AT THAT MEETING, THE PLANNING COMMISSION HAD INDICATED TO COUNCIL THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A THEIR RESPONSE BY YOUR NEXT MEETING. UNFORTUNATELY, THE PLANNING COMMISSION WAS UNABLE TO MEET ON THE SECOND AND AT THAT MEETING TO ENSURE THAT COUNCIL DID HAVE THE PLANNING COMMISSION'S RECOMMENDATION. BY THE NEXT MEETING, A MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCILMAN MYERS TO HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON THIS DAY PURSUANT TO THE STATUTE, WHICH WOULD SHORTEN THE PERIOD OF TIME WITHIN WHICH THE PLANNING COMMISSION HAS. SO INSTEAD OF HAVING 100 DAYS, THEY WOULD HAVE TO PROVIDE A RESPONSE TO COUNCIL ON BEFORE OCTOBER 21ST, SO THAT COUNCIL MAY PROCEED TO MAKE ITS DETERMINATION ON THAT ON THAT DATE. MATCH REQUIREMENTS FOR VIRGINIA BROWNSFIELD RESTORATION AND ECONOMIC REDEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE FUND GRANT TO DEMOLISH TWO DOWNTOWN BUILDINGS IN SUPPORT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. STAHLMAN. MR. MAYOR, MEMBERS OF COUNCIL, THIS EVENING WE HAVE THE REQUEST FOR YOU TO SUPPORT THE RESOLUTION FOR THE SUPPORT THE MATCH FOR THE VIRGINIA BROWNFIELD RESTORATION ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT. THE CITY IS GOING TO APPLY FOR $250,000, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE A $250,000 MATCH IN ORDER TO DEMO THE FORMER CRUISERS BUILDING IN PETERSBURG.
